I'm Connected To The World!

Our Geography lesson begins with a game called 'Connections'.

The aim of this starter was to find out what previous knowledge the children had of France.

As part of the game each child divulged a piece of information that they have about France e.g food, city attractions or areas they may have visited.

As the children begin to give their piece of information they formed connections a.k.a held hands with other children who had shared similar information.

For Example some one who says 'I've been to Disneyland' would stand beside some one who said 'The Eiffel Tower is in France'

These two really liked French food!

All these ladies had connections with the attractions in France!

Passport Proforma!

We devised a template for the Passport, that we would use across all three subjects in our lessons. Each subject has it's own page and the children would complete their work in the relevant sections for each subject.


For Literacy the children would complete the work they did on adjectives and information texts on the 'Informative Sentence Sheet'.

With French the children would transcribe the new sentences that they learnt about Fruit on the 'French Sentence Sheet'

and for Geography the children would list all the information that they gathered from various different media in the 'Fact File' section.

You Get By With A Little Help For Your PCGE Friends!

As part of our Geography lesson, the children upon completion of their passports, are able to go on a journey to Paris, France. Here are some pictures of how we would try and transform the classroom into a plane for the journey:

Were on Holiday's!

We decided that we wanted to make the lesson as interactive as possible and have a reward/incentive for the children at the end of the lesson. We decided that we would try and create a simulator which would take the class on a trip to France. Using our crafty ICT skills we gathered pictures of sights and attractions and included some 360 panoramic views of the Eiffel Tower (fancy, we know!!) and then included the soundtrack of the French National Athem to complete our master piece!

Bright Idea's!

First of all we decided that we wanted to do our project based on travel or the airport!

We came across Unit24-Passport To The World in the Geography Schemes of Work and we were instantly interested. We decided to take the theme of the Geography lesson and link it to Literacy Unit3-Information texts and Modern Foreign Languages (French).

A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words!

After introducing the children to the passport proforma and outlining what you wanted them to do, send them away to do some research independently. We found some good resources that would aid the children's research and have listed them below:

We also created a mock boarding pass which we would give to the children when they gave us their piece of information to get on 'the plane'.
